Gaedingur 1.0

Gaedingur is an app for everyone interested in Icelandic Horse gait competitions. The app can be used to track progress of horse/rider pairs throughout competitions on several dates.

Features

• Setting up new competitions. Supported gait competition types at the moment are the FEIF regulated tölt competitions (T1 - T8), all four gait competitions (V1 to V6), all five gait competitions (F1/F2 and the free obedience type.
• For each competition, enter the riders you are interested in
• As the competition proceeds, enter the marks for every competition part - you will immediately see which rider is first after every part. The app uses the FEIF specified calculations (http://www.feif.org) to calculate the total of every competition part and the total grade for all parts (five or three judges).
• The app allows you to keep track of the single marks that have been given for every gait, not just the summary or the marks per judge (as it is the case for the regular ranking lists)
• Include your favourite Icelandic horse website in the app (configurable via Settings)

User Manual

Competitions

1. Create a new competition by clicking on the "Plus" button at the top right
2. Choose where the competition takes part (can be changed later)
3. Choose the type of the competition (this cannot be changed later, as it would affect which parts the competition has)
4. Choose the date and time when the competition takes place (this can be changed later, if you do not know yet).

The competitions will be ordered automatically after their date.

• To delete a competition, click on "Edit" or swipe across the competition you want to delete.
• To edit a competition, click on "Edit", then select the competition you want to edit.

Horses and Riders

1. Create a new rider/horse by clicking on the "Plus" button at the top right
2. Enter name of rider and horse. Optionally, you can enter a group/and or competitor number in the group field (in the beginning, the competitors are sorted according to this field). You can also specify the color the rider will be wearing in the competition, if you already know which one it is.

Riders cannot be edited in the current version of Gaedingur, but this is a feature which we have planned for the next version.

Riders will be sorted according to their group number. During a competition, the sorting order will change to their current ranking.

Competition parts

During a competition, use the red bar at the bottom to scroll between competition parts. To facilitate entering grades for every part, the part currently selected is preserved if you navigate back to choose another rider. The calculations for the grades are the ones specified by FEIF (http://www.feif.org), so pay attention to the fact that in some competitions, the grades of some parts count double for the end mark and also that when there are five judges, the best and worst mark are usually not counted.
